Onscreen Style: 2NE1’s “I Am The Best” MV

2NE1 never fails to keep us on our toes, do they?

It’s no secret that these ladies are top fashionistas in the industry, and their latest music video, “I Am The Best”, fully proves that reputation.

The crazy hairstyles of both Sandara and CL are one of the most widely talked about fashion pieces in the video. In both the MV and their comeback stage, Dara is seen sporting an unconventional anime-like hairstyle (‘Vegeta’ style), and her usually soft girly hair is seen sticking straight up with the ends sprayed with silver-gray. Also, at one point in the video, CL has two horns of hair sticking out of her head, slightly reminiscent of Dara’s blue and pink hat.

Additionally, the group’s silver outfits are a key focal point of the music video.

The four outfits are fluid, yet encompass elements of each member’s personal style. The silver material adds a futuristic theme to the outfits, a theme that well fits the overall style of the video and song.

The silver outfits are from designer Gareth Pugh’s spring 2011 collection.

Gareth Pugh is a British designer whose aesthetic has been described as “fashion-as-performance-art” and has been compared to Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood.

Unsurprisingly, his aesthetic fits right in with the general stylings and attitudes of 2NE1, making for a perfect fit.

What’s most notable about 2NE1’s style isn’t just that it’s crazy and outlandish, it’s that it’s crazy and outlandish but they manage to make it look fashionable and edgy. What might look ridiculous on other idols manages to look good on them, and it’s quite a hard feat to accomplish.

2NE1 unveils choreography video for “I Am The Best”

Having had a successful run in the first week of promotions for their latest comeback, the girls of 2NE1recently unveiled their choreography practice for their hit title track, “I Am The Best”!

In contrast to other practice videos that are usually uploaded by idol groups, the video gets up and personal with each member during their dancing, making it a lot more interactive for the fans to watch.

T-ara releases comeback music video for “Roly Poly”!

On June 29th, T-ara finally released their long-awaited comeback music video for “Roly Poly“!

Unlike any regular music video, “Roly Poly” is a whopping 10 minutes long and was done under a mini-drama format with direction from famous director, Cha Eun Taek. Fit to the song’s retro theme, the music video is about the feelings of nostalgia for the good ol’ days.

At the center are members Eunjung, Jiyeon, and Hyomin, with special appearances by Jun Young Rok (Boram’s father) and actress Im Ye Jin.

The song itself was co-produced by Shinsadong Tiger and Choi Kyu Sang. Core Contents Mediaexplained, “‘Roly Poly’ features an addictive but easy to follow melody that will catch the attention of listeners of all ages. The minute people watch the music video, the older generation will feel the scent of their youth while the younger generation experiences something new.”

Wonder Girls’ Sohee calls Heechul on his last day of Youngstreet radio

It looks like Super Junior’s Heechul finally got his wish!

On June 26th, the Wonder Girls‘ Sohee called Heechul on Youngstreet radio, making his last day on the program even more memorable. He seemed to enjoy the phone call a lot more than the picture above, where he had asked the editors to photoshop Sohee into his photo.

As fans all know, Heechul has been an extremely loyal fan of the Wonder Girls’ “mandu face” over the past few years, with fans affectionately deeming the duo “Soheechul”.

When Heechul realized it was Sohee calling him, he proceeded to laugh wildly in joy, then quickly calmed himself to ask her how she was. “How is Heechul oppa?” he later asked her, to which she complimented, “You’re such a talented and fun host, which is why I have a great time listening to your show.”

He also mentioned that J.Y. Park had greatly praised her when they had met for dinner the night before. “Whenever we meet he always praises you. He also told me to stop bothering him,” Heechul laughed.

He also asked Sohee what he meant to her, and after a brief silence, she replied, “An oppa that I’m very grateful for.“ Heechul then added, “I’m very grateful to you, because when I’m in a bad mood and want to hit someone, I’ll think of you and feel better.”

He then proved himself to be a true fan when he commented, “Tomorrow’s your birthday right? Happy Birthday,” to which Sohee replied, “Yes it is! Thank you,” and played “Nobody” after her call.

Plot
